About ProfESSOR Moshe BenBassat
Decades of AI-focused activities that were a blend of being a mathematician & statistician scientist, and being an entrepreneur and a business leader-mentor.
Professor BenBassat has been researching, practicing and teaching Artificial Intelligence, from the first AI “Spring” of the 1980’s, all through the “Winter” of the 1990s and early years of this century, and now into the AI renaissance that is blossoming in the current decade. During a long academic career with positions at Tel Aviv University, USC, and UCLA, Professor BenBassat made many contributions in Pattern Recognition, Artificial Intelligence, Optimization, Data Science and Machine Learning. His research was supported by NIH, NSF, DARPA, NASA, BMD (Ballistic Missile Defense Agency), ARI (Army Research Institute), Israel Defense Forces, and others.
Following his invention of “service chain optimization,” he founded ClickSoftware which has been leading this space with AI-centric products since its inception in 1997. Click was listed on NASDAQ in 2000, showing strong year-on-year growth. Dr. BenBassat served as CEO until 2015, at which point it was privatized by private equity firm Francisco Partners (FP) for about $450 million. Recently, Click was acquired by market leader Salesforce in a deal valuing the company at $1.35 billion.
Moshe also founded Plataine, a market leader in intelligent automation for smart manufacturing, leveraging Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) and Artificial Intelligence technologies.
Moshe is an investor in young startup companies including Mobility-Insight, Yoocan and CarLbas where he also serves as an adviser leveraging his science and technology experience as well as his Startup Scale up Methodology: from 5 to 50 to 500.
